Interview with ... J.C. Spooner
16/5/2012With this interview start a new section of the website, I try to interview some maker and developper of fishing games. I start with J. C. Spooner the creator of Fishing Simulator 1 and 2, maybe the best fishing games ever.
1 How did you become interested in fishing games?
My interest started in 1986 with a ZX Spectrum. The only two things at that time that interested me were fishing and programming so it was logical to combine the two. Also being a typical angler, I preferred to stay indoors on those cold rainy days so writing a fishing game was the perfect way to do this. The first fishing game I wrote was titled 'fishing' for the 48k Spectrum, which then had a sequel a few years later for the 128k Spectrum +2A.
Fishing Simulator version one was written in the 1990's and was written solely for personal use. Back in 1998 I was a lecturer, teaching students I.T and programming and during a conversation with one of my students he mentioned that he was also a fisherman. I didn't believe anybody else would be interested in a fishing game, but he showed an interest and I made a copy of the game for him. He loved it, and was very excited by it, saying that lots of people would be interested if it was sold as Shareware on the Internet. So I set up a website with a demo of the game and offered it as Shareware. To my amazement there was instant interest. The problem was though, that Fishing Simulator ( version one ) was never meant for use by anyone else so it was very rough. That is when I decided to write a version two which was released in September 2000.

26/4/2012Here's the new version of Truefish, the 2.6.You can download the demo version or buy it from this site: http://www.truefish.it/index.htm . The game was created and produced by Italian Ivan Tibaldi, and is certainly one of the best simulator of fishing. Compared to previous versions have the deep sea fishing and spinning fishing and many more species of fish.
With TrueFish you can fish with a fixed, bolognese, deep sea fishing or spinning fishing rod along rivers, lakes and seas of Italian territory.
You can catch the most common fishes in Italian territory: bleaks, trouts, chub, carp, mullet, etc.. for a total of 129 different types!
According to the place, the day of the year, weather conditions and especially the type of fishing rod, the fishing line calibration, the bait, etc., you will catch fishes just like in real life!
With TrueFish you can also customize venues and equipment. You can create new venues, rods, hooks, baits, etc. so you can fish in every place you love, using your favorite fishing rod!

With a style like Fishing Simulator 2 have 60 landscapes of lakes and river from around the world, with a lot of type of fish.
Fishing shops have new equipment that can be bought, from the fishing line to the bait.
You can either feed your fish in order to catch them or use the on board radar system! All the time taking care to keep an eye on the weather making sure that you don't get caught out!

First fishing game for the new handheld console was released in Japan PS VITA in March makes extensive use of touch controls, in particular, the touch screen for intuitive control over the launch of the fishing rod, while in the back pad you can see a zoom function to see the water when tou are fishing.
The game modes include the "world tour", the challenge mode, the lessons to increase fishing skills and how to view the various fish.
The first mode called "active", ie tour and challenge, will be played in multiplayer.
